High Tide explores the poetic and transformative power of water in art and fashion.

In High Tide, the worlds of fashion and contemporary art are blended together in a sensory Odyssey. Forty fashion designers and artists draw inspiration from the ocean to create underwater worlds teeming with goddesses, sea monsters and mythical sea creatures. This book charts the multilayered relationship between humans and the sea: the sea as a source of life as well as introspection and playful unpredictability, but also as a place where shipwrecks, pollution and rising sea levels remind us of the fragile nature of our world.

Iris van Herpen’s rippling dresses, Bill Viola’s hypnotic video art, the sailors of Pierre et Gilles and Elena Velez’s fascinating water creatures, along with designs by Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Dries Van Noten, Versace and many others all pour from an ocean of imagination. Ten interviews with contemporary voices including Rushemy Botter & Lisi Herrebrugh (BOTTER), Dimitra Petsa, Marine Serre, Rinus Van de Velde and Dominique White invite you to immerse yourself in the eternal ebb and flow of artistic inspiration: the sea.

This publication accompanies the exhibition High Tide: Of Humanity and the Sea, Through Fashion and Art in BRUSK, Bruges, Belgium, from 30 October 2026 until 14 March 2027.
