De langverwachte nieuwe monografie over Philip Aguirre y Otegui

Philip Aguirre y Otegui (°1961, België) bouwde de voorbije vijf decennia aan een indrukwekkend oeuvre, dat in dit boek voor het eerst in al zijn facetten aan bod komt. De kunstenaar beeldhouwt en tekent niet alleen, maar maakt ook installaties en collages. Veel meer dan een overzicht van zijn werk is deze uitgave vooral een hulde aan de beeldhouwkunst en aan de universele kracht van schoonheid.

Aguirre y Otegui toont zich in zijn werk een getuige van zijn tijd: hij heeft oog voor de grote thema’s die de wereld beroeren, maar evenzeer voor de weerbaarheid van de mens die in de maatschappij overeind blijft. Zijn sculpturen zijn tegelijk kwetsbaar en krachtig, monumentaal en menselijk.

Deze publicatie verschijnt naar aanleiding van de gelijknamige tentoonstelling in KMSKA Antwerpen van 3 oktober 2026 tot en met 17 januari 2027.

The artist not only sculpts and draws, but also creates installations and collages.
